After coming up with, and discussing various ideas in detail for the mega project, we finalized our idea of online training on various courses which would instill the knowledge of certain soft skills in the target population and would prove to be invaluable in the longer run.

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

There is a massive need for soft skills’ learning in Pakistan as our educational institutes do not offer them. The number of graduate job-seekers is high, who are in need of such skills either as a requirement for their dream job or to sustain themselves in the world of freelancing. There are several academies and online platforms that are providing such courses but their limited seats can never accommodate all the desirous learners.

PROBLEM SOLUTION:

To contribute a little to the issue of disproportionate number of online platforms and teachers available, we plan to offer the courses on Content writing, Resume writing and how to use Wordpress effectively in a very affordable price and less time so that maximum people can benefit through them and complete them alongside their existing schedules.

GOALS:

  • We plan to offer the courses on content writing, resume writing and the usage of Wordpress effectively in a very affordable price and less time so that maximum people can benefit through them and complete them alongside their existing schedules.
  • The courses of Content writing and Wordpress would extend over three weeks while the one on CV/Resume making would be covered in two weeks.
  • We expect to at least have 4–6 students for each course.

COURSE OF ACTION & TIMELINE:

  • Setting up the social media within the first week of Mega Project initiation — 23rd April
  • Making digital posters within the second week of Mega Project Initiation — 30th April
  • Planning the syllabi within the third week of Mega Project Initiation — 7th May
  • Advertising for maximum students within the third week of Mega Project Initiation — 7th May
  • Enrollment of students and fee collection within the fourth week of Mega Project initiation — 14th May
  • Conduction of separate sessions for all three courses within the fifth, sixth and seventh week of Mega Project initiation — 21st and 28th May, 4th June
  • Weekly feedbacks — at the end of fifth, sixth and seventh week

TASK DIVISION AMONG CIRCLE MEMBERS:

  • Ayesha Sahibzada would teach Resume writing and would handle the blogs’ writing.
  • Fasih ur Rehman would teach Wordpress.
  • Faiza Arshad would teach Content writing.
  • Shoaib Ashraf would handle the social media platforms.
  • Ahsan Awan would take care of the fees and finances.
  • Nafisa Kanwal would take weekly feedback from students.
  • Waseem Sajjad would keep track of the attendance.

PROGRESS:

From the list of tasks that we are supposed to complete in a fixed time frame, the following have been completed:

  • Online Presence:

Our online platforms on Facebook and Instagram have been created and have received several likes and follows. We plan to use them for marketing purposes for now and later to update our progress on classes.

  • Making digital posters:

A number of digital posters for all the three courses have been created by Ahsan Awan, Nafisa Kanwal and Fasih ur Rehman, and have been uploaded on our social media platforms. Besides that, all the members of the circle have also started sharing them around to attract maximum students.

  • Planning the syllabi:

We have clearly planned out the syllabus for all three courses while breaking it down into topics to be covered in each class.

CHALLENGES; OLD AND NEW:

  • Teamwork:

As strangers in the beginning, we faced our fair share of differences and resultant challenges regarding communication, difference of opinion and consent over several matters. However, as the weeks are passing by, all the members within their capacity are playing their role in the group’s responsibilities and are trying to understand each other.

We are arranging regular zoom meetings, seeking help from each other where needed and are using our whatsapp group in its true potential to communicate with each other. Looking back now to the starting weeks, I can tell that we have come a long way, as the circle members display more respect, cooperation and understanding for each other.

  • Strength of students:

As all the circle members have started sharing the posters at various platforms and we are keeping our expectations low regarding the number of students, yet the people that have contacted us are very less. This is a major concern because without a decent number of students, the project might not prove to be as impactful as initially thought of.

In order to deal with this challenge, all the circle members are sharing the details as much as they can and are engaging with the people who are contacting us in a professional manner.
